60,000 ThankYou points
Travelers who spend across multiple categories and want a competitive mid-tier travel card.
The Citi Strata Premier Card is the most underrated $95 travel card on the market right now. For that modest annual fee, you get one of the richest transfer partner networks of any mid-tier card — 15 airline partners and 4 hotel partners you can move points to at 1:1 or near-1:1 ratios. That roster includes heavy hitters like Flying Blue, Singapore KrisFlyer, Turkish Miles and Smiles, and now American Airlines AAdvantage, giving you access to premium cabin redemptions that can be worth far more than the 1 cent per point you get redeeming for gift cards.
The earning structure is genuinely excellent for a $95 card. You earn 3x on air travel, hotels, dining, supermarkets, and gas or EV charging — five everyday categories that cover most of what people actually spend money on. Stack in the $100 annual hotel credit on a qualifying $500-plus stay booked through CitiTravel, and you can wipe out the annual fee entirely without trying hard.
You should get this card if you are building a points strategy around airline transfers, if you want broad 3x earning without paying Chase Sapphire Reserve or Amex Platinum prices, or if you already hold the Citi Double Cash or Custom Cash and want to pool all your ThankYou Points onto a card that can transfer them to airline partners. That combination is a genuinely powerful setup.
Skip it if you are a committed Chase or Amex loyalist whose transfer partners do not overlap with Citi's network, or if you only redeem points for straight cash back — the 60,000-point bonus is worth $600 at face value, which is fine but not spectacular unless you're willing to transfer to partners.
The biggest pitfall is the hotel credit's booking requirement: it must go through CitiTravel to trigger, and you lose any hotel loyalty points or status benefits when you book through a third-party portal. Also watch the transfer ratios carefully — as of April 2026, Choice Privileges and Preferred Hotels changed to 1:1.5 and 1:2 respectively, which diminishes those hotel partner options. The 48-month bonus clock is an important planning consideration if you have held this card or the old Citi Premier before.
Citi 48-month rule: you are ineligible for the welcome bonus if you received a new account bonus on the Citi Strata Premier (or its predecessor, the Citi Premier) within the prior 48 months. Each ThankYou card runs an independent clock — the Premier/Strata Premier clock is separate from the Double Cash and Custom Cash clocks. The 48-month window begins when the bonus posts to your account.
